Three kids in, and I feel fairly confident about the things I’ve searched far and wide for to raise my kids. Here is my breakdown of “Mama Must-Have,” and why they have a permanent space in our house!
Play
We do a lot of independent, Montessori-type play in our home. We have chosen to limit of children’s screen time to a movie on Saturday or a few episodes of their favorite television show (Daniel Tiger, Wild Kratts, Veggie Tales, If You Give A Mouse a Cookie) in an effort to protect their brain and social development.
I shop for a lot of toys at local consignment shops, but when I do buy new toys, I seek our high- quality and long-lasting items to pass them down from child to child. I appreciate wood toys and ones that mimic home scenes- play cleaning toys, as they can truly help children learn life skills while they stretch their imagination and play!
We keep out only 8 toys at a time and rotate them weekly- which makes clean up a breeze and keeps them from being overwhelmed and overstimulated by options.
Furniture
We like to keep our home fairly organized and uncluttered. Everything we bring has a function and place. Double points if it has multiple functions! This book shelf fits the Montessori style, and also has a cushioned seat for the kids! It will grow with them, matches everything, and was easy to put together! I’m definitely buying a second one to add once the baby grows up!
The two highchairs on this list are my absolute favorites! The BabyJoy is perfect for babies-two year old’s, and then we transition them into the Funny Supply high chair that is height adjustable and perfect for toddlers! It’s so important a baby’s high chair is suitable for proper posture while they are eating!
Sleep
We co-sleep with our babies until they are about one or can get through the night without feeding. We love the cuddle nest lounger to put in our bed! It’s so transportable and comfortable. I wish there was an adult-sized one!
Sound machines are a must, and we take our everywhere- no, but for real. We had one kid that hated the car, so the tiny transportable sound machine was a blessing. At home, we love the Hatch! We keep it in our room with the baby, and we keep the other one in the toddler’s shared room!
I upgraded our changing pad this baby, and I only wish I’d had it babies before! Not only is it beautiful, but it’s cushy and easy to clean. It’ll be a piece that I save for grandkids! It’s that well made!
Baby
We cloth diaper and use disposable diapers (Rascal and Friends from Walmart specifically). Our tried and true choice is ALVABABY, hands down. 3/3 babies have used those diapers and they never leak on us! We love them!
Our kids have all loved BIBS pacifiers too. They are great for kiddos who have had tongue ties (our kids did) since they have a large, round bulb at the end.
We want to be just an intentional about our baby toys as we are the toddler’s and choose less stimulating ones like the wooden toy gym and wood toy teethers!
I have exclusively breastfed all three of my kids, and I have my favorite breastfeeding supplies on this list! From nipple care to bottles for dad to help feed once in a while, all of these items hold up in the Price home!
