Spreading Holiday Cheer- Our Favorite Ways to Give Part 2

Picking up where I left off, I am so thrilled to continue sharing our family’s favorite organizations to financially support. This holiday season, I hope you will consider challenging our culture’s consumerism to bring the Good News and pour out blessings on the needy locally and globally.

World Concern

I first learned about World Concern while reading an article from my favorite news source, The Pour Over, about the famine in Somalia and the effects of the war in Russia and Ukraine on the Somalians. The Pour Over partnered with World Concern to assist in the provision of emergency foods packs to starving women, children, and men who are malnourished and on the brink of death from this historical famine. In the big picture, World Concern seeks to minister to those in the world who’s country’s are ravished by war, famine and poverty. The opportunities to care for those who need love and attention are countless.

Adoptable

I learned about Adoptable just last night, after sharing with a close friend, the deep calling and desire we have to adopt an infant. Adoptable is a North Texas organization that helps families fundraise for their adoptions! You can donate specifically to a family, or monthly! I pray that one day, we’ll not only be able to finance our adoptions fully, but other families who are called to adopt, but need financial assistance, too.

India Partners

For $7 a month you can save a child from the red light district…$7. That’s what we spend on a grande latte flippantly, yet India Partners uses those dollars to protect a child from a future of drug abuse, trauma, trafficking, and abuse. Supporting India Partners helps bring families out of extreme poverty, provide Indians with access to clean drinking water, and teach women a trade to provide for their families as well.

YoungLife

Our family loves YoungLife! This ministry goes to kids, meeting them where they’re at-literally and spiritually. This Christian organization seeks to build trust with middle school-college age kids, who haven’t been presented with the gospel, and through that mentoring relationship, have the opportunity to demonstrate and share Christ with the youth. In the summer, the children attend YoungLife camp, aka, “The Best Week of Your Life.” There are weekly youth group nights, small-group discipleship opportunites and more! Our family specifically ministers to the subcategory of YoungLife, YoungLives, where we walk with the teen parents in our community.

Goods and Better Store

The Goods and Better Store is an incredible organization. Their goal is to come alongside foster families and foster children with community and support. They will ensure that foster children go to their foster homes with supplies they need to be comfortable and clean. When you shop the fantastic merchandise from Goods and Better, you chose a care package for a foster child to receive, from a hygiene kit, to new clothes, and everything in-between. For the foster families, Goods and Better Store offers community, support care resources, and events to encourage gathering!

Does your family have an organization you cherish supporting? Share about it with a friend or family member!

I hope your holidays are filled with cheer, and that these posts encourage a spirit of generosity!
