The Hippie’s International Travel Medicine Cabinet

For the first time ever, our little family took what European’s refer to as a “holiday.” While I haven’t yet shared publicly where we are and when for safety reasons, I wanted to share the supplements and natural medicines we bought with us to prepare for anything minor that could during our travels.

Boy, am I glad I took the time to pack almost a whole carry-on full of supplies, because before we were even arrived at our destination, I got my first regular postpartum cycle, and all three of our children contracted hand-foot-mouth disease.

Pictured above is the baseline to our little medicine cabinet abroad. I knew we were going to have limited access to familiar resources where we were going and no Amazon, so I bought the most important items that couldn’t be remedied with honey, lemon, ice or a hot compress.

I had been working incredibly hard the weeks before our trip taking care of my health as I had a mysterious chronic infection that lasted over two months, and the last thing I wanted was to be stranded with pain and infection again! It turns out I had a pseudomonas bacterial infection that attached to my left tonsil, brought on by the toxic mold in our rental house…

After three rounds of antibiotics, my infection has finally cleared up, but I have to be very vigilant to help boost my immune system now, so my infection won’t relapse again!

Allergies

I and my oldest child have unfortunately horrible allergies. I made sure the generic Zyrtec and Flonase nasal spray were packed for me along with Genexa Kid’s allergy medicine for my son! Acclimating to a completely new climate, these have both been used frequently!

Colds/Immune Health

Back in the states, sickness has been crazy rampant. I wanted to avoid anymore illness as much as possible while away. Genexa cold tablets! Let me tell you, these are a lifesaver! When I feel sniffles coming on, I take them as directed and I swear, cold be gone! Kick-It-Immune for Kids. I also give this tincture to all three of my kiddos at the beginning of a runny nose and it works wonders. I always keep this in stock at home!

Echinacea and Goldenseal plus tincture, Collodial Silver, Boiron’s Cold Drops for Children and Infants, and Young Living’s chewable Vitamin C made the cut! Biocidin is a biofilm disrupter that I’ve been taking to ensure my antibiotics are working as best as they can, in addition to helping my body fight the pseudomonas bacteria in my body.

Sleep

Magnesium calm, Sleepy Nights, and Fresh Mornings tincture drops. These drops are the BEST. I can’t travel without them, seriously.

Gut Health

After so many rounds of antibiotics, I know my gut flora is shot. So I’ve been popping probiotics like tictacs! I want my gut protection back! My capsule of choice- fermented probiotic capsules, and Ion gut support. My oldest son is taking ION to help heal his gut as well. Digize essential oils for upset bellies is a gem! I bought my diluted roller and a vial of oil to refill just in case.

Funny story- my husband and I contracted severe bacterial infections on our honeymoon. You can guess how that story concluded. Out of pure fear of ever getting Montezuma’s revenge again, I bought two different tablets for traveler’s diarrhea. When I say “never again,” I mean it.

These came in handy too with HFM, as two/three of my kiddos had gastrointestinal upset as their symptoms.

First Aid

This section is fairly self-explanatory, so here’s a list!

Welly Waterproof Bandages, Acetemetaphin, Uncoated Aspirin, First Honey (medical grade manuka honey ointment), Bug Bite Thing, and Bug Bite roller (lavender, lemon, and peppermint diluted in olive oil). Young Living Thieves hand sanitizer, Young Living Owie oil.

Vitamins

All of these layers wouldn’t be possible without our daily supplements! Mary Ruth’s Organic Vitamin D gummies, Mary Ruth’s Organic Children’s multivitamin, a postnatal with lactation supplementation, and dissolve-it-all. I’ve been taking that to help my body break down scar tissue amongst other specific things (stay tuned, my MitoLife Affiliate code is coming soon!)

Hand, Foot, Mouth Protocol

Being that this is the first time I’ve experienced this illness with my children, and until we have any more children, the last, HFM was brutal. So sad. This remedy guide on Purely Parson’s blog was a LIFESAVER. I used the manuka honey antibacterial ointment for the blisters the baby got on his diapered area from HFM, and it worked so well to heal and protect his skin!

Essential Oils

Last but not least, my trusty oils. I take them everywhere. I even have a travel diffuser I took along with us and six oils that I felt would serve us so well while we traveled. Including the rollers mentioned above, here’s the complete list:

  • Digize Vitality

  • Thieves Vitality

  • Christmas Spirit

  • Owie

  • Seedlings Calm

  • Orange Vitality

  • Idaho Blue Spruce

  • Fir Needle

These oils set the vibe for calmness, winding down, and the holiday spirit!!

Shop them via Young Living here!!

p.s. you don’t have to have a membership to shop from them now!

There you have it! My family’s hippy, traveling medicine kit! I honestly don’t feel like I wish I had bought anything else with me. I’ve used everything thus far!
