Our Trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts
This fall for my 28th birthday we took an incredibly special trip with our kids and my father to Cape Cod. It was my first time to visit and it truly was an incredible time.
From the beaches to the food, the sunrises and the views, we hope to make this an annual place to visit on the East Coast so the kids can make extra special memories with their grandfather and so we all get the (much needed) chance to unwind and relax.
The Sights
As you can imagine, Cape Cod (in my opinion) is breathtaking. Since we went during the off season the public beaches were very bare, as were the towns. It was the locals who lived there and ran business mostly, and I really appreciated that! Everyday we visited a different beach. Unfortunately I didn’t write down the names of the beaches we visited, besides one- Raycroft Beach. Here are some snapshots of the ones we visited!
The Eats
Since this was a very special occasion (my birthday and our first time on the Cape) we took advantage of trying out some of the delicious local restaurants. We tried some hotdogs and fish & chips at The DogHouse. Biscotti, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries at Buckies Biscotti and Bakery Cafe. Seafood from Skipper Chowder House (and yes we got the chowder, and yes, it was so tasty) and ice cream at Auntie’s Ice Cream Parlor. On the way out of town I also had to check out Little Miss Cupcake! The salted chocolate was delectable!
Extras
You know your thrift junky had to check out the thrift stores while we were here. And boy oh boy am I glad I did! Free People, Kotur bags, brand new Tommy Hilfiger duck boots, Old Navy, LL. Bean and more. I had a ball! If you’re ever on the Cape I highly recommend this shop! They were so friendly and their options were fantastic!
On our way out of town we made a stop at Cuffy’s to grab some matching hoodies for the family. I always hoped to get one of these when I was younger. Growing up on the East Coast, many kids at school came home from spring or summer break with these sweaters and I longed to own one. Now I do, and it has quickly become one of my favorites!
Beyond that we were homebodies. It wasn’t a super long trip, and our AirBnb was very cozy! When we weren’t at the beach, we were napping. If we weren’t napping we were eating. It was a glorious cycle, and it was a trip to remember!
